NaphCare is partnering with Everhealth to hire a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Kennewick, WA , where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Benton County Jail.

Payrate for this position will range from $61.58 - $65.00 / hour

As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care, responding to emergencies, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

The MAT Registered Nurse is a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to :

Performing comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination

Administering MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing, and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interaction

Educating patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence, addressing misconceptions and stigma

Monitoring patients in the induction, stabilization, and phases of treatment patient ensuring adherence to the program

Collaborating with MAT team, including physicians, counselors, and other nurses to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, counseling, and other support services

Communicating patient status changes to the care team, which may include providers, behavioral health specialists, and other support staff

Accurately documenting patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the EHR

Providing all phases of patient support and treatment including nursing visits, urine toxicology screens, labs, medication education, pill counts, observing dosing, and medication refills

Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.

Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.

Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.

Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of WA

Must possess an active BLS / CPR Certification (AHA preferred)

Five years’ experience as an RN with at least one year of experience in the field of substance abuse

Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and / or confidential information

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Able to work independently and in a team

Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed

Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
