Physical Therapy Assistant
Under the direction of a NYS licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides and documents physician ordered occupational therapy services. The PTA provides superior customer service by modeling the Unity Brand Promise and Core Values.
Completes and documents patient care activities within PTA scope of practice, including visit notes, verbal / renewal orders, and progress toward goals per agency standards.
Implements individualized treatment plans, including gait training, use of assistive devices, and safe transfer techniques using proper body mechanics.
Confers with the supervising Physical Therapist, physicians, and interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress, concerns, and response to therapy.
Participates in discharge planning by providing timely, thorough patient and family education to support safe transitions of care.
Coordinates patient scheduling collaboratively with team members and adjusts effectively based on census or patient needs.
Maintains professional growth through continuing education and communicates clearly with patients and families regarding care plans, progress, and therapy goals.
Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Current NYS PT Assistant licensure required.
