About The Position

Unit Details

Hospitals & Beds : CRMC : 60 ED beds

MGMC : 31 ED beds

Ratios : 1 : 4

Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS

Common Diagnoses / Patient Types : ED holds waiting for placement, primarily MS / Tele patients

Staffing & Support

Charge Nurse / House Supervisor : ED charge nurse

Nurse Aides / PCTs : Available in ED

RT Coverage : No vents required

Floating : Med / Surg / Tele / overflow units and CRMC / MGMC EDs as needed

Dress Code

Navy scrubs

Orientation

2 shifts on Med / Surg / Tele at primary campus

Job Requirements

General Requirements

Teleposition – Must have strong tele skills

Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam via UNA prior to start

Maximum 2 attempts

Failure = DNU for 6 months in CSH AZ and CSH Sacramento regions

PASS / FAIL SIM Lab on Day 1 of orientation

Failure = sent home and DNU for 6 months

Experience & Skills

Minimum 2 years cardiac tele experience preferred

Must be able to titrate cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters

Focus on tele patients rather than general medical patients

Prior travel experience not required for MS / Tele travelers

Drip & Monitoring

RNs required to titrate drips : Yes

Common drips : Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone

Tele / Monitor Techs : None in ED; RNs must read and interpret strips independently

Shifts & Scheduling

12-hour shifts : 7a–7p or 7p–7a

Self-scheduling possible, subject to occasional changes

Weekend Requirement : 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule

Holiday Requirement : Rotate with permanent staff

Call / Standby : None

Additional Notes

Care for ED patients waiting for inpatient beds

May assist with vitals, IV starts, medication administration

Will not be primary RN for ED patient assignment
