The Boeing Company is looking for a Systems Safety Engineer - Fleet Risk Management to join our Enterprise Safety team within the Product and Services Safety Organization (P&SS) in Long Beach, CA . Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level or Senior Systems Safety Engineers.

This position supports development of systematic and comprehensive fleet risk management; i.e. in-service safety analysis processes, training, procedures and tools across the Enterprise (BCA, BDS and BGS) consistent with Boeing's Safety Management System (SMS), FAA's Continued Operation Safety Process (COSP), and MIL-STD-882.

The selected candidate will be a core member of a fast-paced, productive, close-knit, and geographically distributed safety team and work both independently and as part of team. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to resolve cross-functional technical issues are also required.

Position Responsibilities :

Perform systematic and comprehensive assessment of in-service safety and accident / incident processes and ensure consistency with SMS requirements, COSP, and MIL-STD-882 guidance

Develop in-service safety Design Practices (DP), Business Process Instructions (BPI), and other command media for use across BCA, BDS, and BGS including sustaining and supporting development of in-service safety analysis processes

Work across the enterprise to understand stakeholder needs and requirements and integrate the opportunities that align to Enterprise Safety Vision and Mission

Support enhancement of root cause analysis methods including working COSP and SMS projects

Support enhancement of processes that enable a robust feedback loop of insights based on product safety lessons learned into the future product design

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and support development of safety assurance data analytics

Support preparation of presentations to Safety Technical Boards and Governance forums

Participate and potentially lead Agile scrum teams

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience) :

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

5+ years related work experience

2+ years of experience in aviation systems safety engineering

Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience) :

Senior : 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

5+ years of experience in airplane systems safety processes, systems and / or tools

Experience in FAA -COS Process and aircraft system safety analysis guidelines such as MIL-STD-882E

Experience performing a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle

Experience with Safety Management System (SMS) in Design and Manufacturing organizations

Experience working in an Agile Environment

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range (Mid-Level) : $104,550 - $141,450

Summary Pay Range (Senior) : $128,350 - $173,650
