What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Coding Specialist will be responsible for verification of services, coding, abstracting and data

entry of inpatient and outpatient medical records in adherence to regulatory guidelines and reporting

requirements for appropriate reimbursement and statistical analysis / reporting.

The successful candidate will be able to :

Assigns accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to patient records using ICD-10-CM & PCS and

CPT Coding Schemes.

• Reviews medical record for proper assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes according to aha

coding guidelines, CMS regulations

required for accurate code assignment

when unable to code a record due to lack of sufficient information

productivity / quality standards

o Inpatient Coding 1-3 per hour

o Outpatient Coding 5-10 records per hour

validates correct operative / revenue code for ops and same day procedures

Abstracts required data from patient records and performs data entry functions for required data

elements and ICD-10-CM &PCS and / or CPT codes

system with the medical record

discharge disposition, ICD-10 CM and / or CPT diagnosis and / or procedure codes, and physician

consultation

Assists in the processing of outpatient medical records

Contributes to the overall operation of the department to ensure that customers receive quality

services

release of information and patient’s rights

What We're Looking For

High School Graduate / GED; Associate Degree preferred.
