Job Summary
The Public Safety Specialist is responsible for the delivery of the Public Safety, Emergency Management, and Environmental Health & Safety programs for the organization and will be responsible for the protection of life, theft prevention, and execution of emergency response procedures at assigned locations.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for initial brand appearance by offering friendly and courteous interactions with others on campus.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment of care. Monitor security, facilities, fire, and other building systems. Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual assessments or checklists and document accurately.
- Submit requests in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Partner with appropriate responding agencies in case of an emergency.
- Support loss prevention at assigned locations. Investigate and document any security, safety, or other unusual activity on property.
- Take appropriate actions if criminal activity occurs on property until law enforcement arrives.
- Assist in janitorial duties and special assignments such as trash rounds, cleaning spills, and other cleaning functions.
- Minimize risks and the spread of communicable diseases by assisting in the infection prevention program as requested by leadership.
- Attend, participate in, and / or assist in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other required activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication skills including verbal and written.Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, CDC, CMS, HRSA, DEA and other regulatory authority rules and guidelines.Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred.1+ years of law enforcement, security, or military experience required; healthcare setting preferred.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Prolonged periods of walking, standing, leaning, and bending.Able to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and climb stairs / ladders.Close vision, far vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and color vision requirements appropriate to the role.Able to hear alarms and spoken words clearly.Able to use hands and fingers for fine manipulation and repetitive motions.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises.Other Requirements
