Job Description

Position Description :

The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking Facilitators for our Clinical Skills and Clinical Simulation Labs. This is a part time, independent contractor position. Candidates having earned a DO or MD are eligible.

The OCOM preclinical curriculum consists of a clinical framework for the integration and application of the sciences that are foundational to understanding clinical problems. The curriculum is designed to enhance long-term memory through application, repetition and recall. As a result, students will become self-directed life-long learners that are adept at critical thinking skills.

The Clinical Skills and Clinical Simulation courses integrate selected areas of practice-based learning and improvement, systems-based practice, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, and the scientific method relating to the practice of osteopathic medicine to develop the student into a caring and competent osteopathic physician. It includes the foundational aspects of taking a patient history, performing a physical examination, using clinical reasoning to develop a differential diagnosis and identify a leading diagnosis, documenting the clinical encounter, verbally presenting a patient case and demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism and performing essential procedures.

Please note that this is not a traditional teaching position. The curriculum features principles of self-directed and active learning modalities including spaced and spiraled learning. This is not a clinical position or related to third and fourth year clinical rotations.
