Description
Directly supervise all employees of the Nursing Department while on shift, with final supervisor authority resting with the Resident Service Director. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization and nursing policies and procedures while following applicable laws. Responsibilities include supervision of C.N.A and Caregivers, medication administration and assessment, planning and implementation of ISP.
Key Responsibilities
- Administers and / or supervises the self-administration of medications.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication, verifies that the correct medication is being given and records time of administration on MAR / electronic record.
- Administers Medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application.
- Assists C.N.A’s and Caregivers as needed with the resident in any daily routines, any personal care and housekeeping tasks that the resident needs assistance in performing.
- Obtains and records residents vital signs (Temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, O2 Sat’s, and weight) as directed
- Observes residents to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care.
- Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.
- Informs families when mail order medicines need to be reordered.
- Talk to physician offices and doctors as needed to take phone orders or change orders for a resident.
- Assures call lights are answered in a timely manner to attend to the residents’ needs as soon as possible after the call light is signaled.
- Assists with dietary responsibilities, including serving meals and cleaning meal area, as needed.
- Keep accurate counts of narcotics and document per policy.
- Attends all training and conferences as required to stay abreast of changes in the organization and nursing department.
- Each employee will ensure all training required by State regulations is completed and documented each year.
- Assures all C.N.A’s and Caregiver’s duties are performed as assigned and documented appropriately / electronic record.
- Participates in the care planning process as assigned.
- Assists in the oversight of appropriate training for all nursing staff to assure requirements for State regulations are met, as assigned by supervisor.
- Addresses employee, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good communication.
- Is fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policies of the community and participates, as assigned, in fire and disaster drills.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director and which relate to the success of Hope Center Memory Care and happiness and wellbeing of our residents.
Education and Experience
Graduation from High School or equivalent is required.Must have active GA LPN license.Must have current certification in CPR.A minimum of a one-year certification from an accredited college or technical school is required.Previous LPN experience is preferred.Experience working with the Alzheimer’s / Dementia residents is desirable.Must be able to read, speak, and write the English LanguageBenefits
