CT / Rad Tech role at Virginia Gay Hospital, Clinics, Home Health, Nursing & Rehab.
Shifts : 4 - 10 hours shifts Monday - Thursday; 9am to 7 : 30pm.
Position purpose
The primary responsibility of the Radiologic Technologist (RRT) is providing quality images as ordered by the provider on inpatients and outpatients to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and injuries.
Qualifications
The incumbent shall be a graduate from an accredited school of Radiological Technology, and have successfully completed the board examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must have a Permit to Practice Radiology issued by the Iowa State Department of Health. Must maintain State and Federal requirements for continuing education. Must be BCLS certified.
Nature and Scope
The staff technologist is directly responsible to the Imaging Services Manager, who reports to the Director of General Services. The incumbent daily performs radiologic procedures, image critiquing, office and patient scheduling duties, maintenance of radiographic equipment and various other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Description
- Creates images of various body parts to assist in the detection of foreign bodies, diagnosis disease, and assess injury.
- Ensures proper patient positioning and proper control of exposure techniques.
- Critiques images and maintains records of procedures performed.
- Ensures that images are ready for interpretation of Radiologist and transmission of images.
- Maintains care and safety of patient at all times.
- Ensures and uses radiation safety devices.
- Assures care and operation of imaging equipment.
- Maintains adequate stock supplies and cleans imaging equipment.
- Demonstrates willingness to work with realization that errors may have serious consequences for the patient and to work with a variety of types of patients, many of whom are in disturbed conditions.
- Provides tact and sympathy in dealing with patients.
- Maintains close attention to details for periods of time.
- Maintains alertness to detect conditions dangerous to patients and personnel.
- Promotes maintenance of trust relative to disclosure of information.
- Demonstrates considerable initiative and judgement in determining proper anatomical position for patients depending on areas imaged, calculating exposure settings, and avoiding unnecessary discomfort and handling to the patient.
