Title : Sr. Integration Engineer (EDI)

Type : Contract-to-Hire

Location : Cincinnati, OH (Hybrid in office Mon Thu; relocation required before start if not local)

Start Date : ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a Sr. Integration Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative team driving Kroger's Food Safety Tracking and Compliance Project . This role requires both technical expertise and strong communication skills, as you will be working closely with Kroger suppliers and representing the client in business-critical conversations.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, so candidates must be open to full-time conversion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality codebases and lead design discussions.
  • Implement and configure EDI integrations using IBM Sterling B2Bi.
  • Represent Kroger with suppliers : manage communications, negotiations, and technical discussions.
  • Participate in defining and executing against Kroger's technology roadmap.
  • Mentor team members and coordinate with offshore teams.
  • Support system architecture, migration planning, and enterprise standards implementation.
  • Drive digital innovation using modern integration tools, APIs, and cloud technologies.

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years in software / integration development with proven large-scale delivery.
  • Strong experience with IBM Sterling B2Bi for EDI design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Expertise in EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, XSLT, XPath, BPML).
  • Hands-on with Middleware (IBM MQ, Apigee, Kafka) and protocols (AS2, SFTP).
  • Knowledge of IBM DataPower appliance .
  • Solid foundation in Java, Spring Boot, SOAP / REST , and web technologies.
  • Experience with CI / CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong communication, business-facing, and negotiation skills.

    • Preferred Skills

  • Awareness / experience with FSMA compliance.
  • Cloud experience (Azure, GCP).
  • Experience building elastic architectures .
  • System architecture and enterprise-level solutioning.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring background.
