Job Description & Requirements Specialty : ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 24 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 48-hour / week ICU position caring for a diverse, high-acuity patient population with trauma and cardiac cases, requiring prior travel and TNCC certification. Responsibilities Position is in a large, mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) divided into pods Patient population includes complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, multiple trauma, and post-surgical patients Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 2, rarely 1 : 3, depending on acuity Will not care for fresh open heart post-op unless highly experienced and approved Cardiac experience (such as CABG / TAVR post-op) is preferred but not required 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation every other weekend (not guaranteed) No on-call required Floating is rare but may occur to other adult units including Medsurg / Tele (up to 1 : 4 ratio) ICU staff receive support from CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists (24 / 7), physicians, and advanced practice providers Hospital and unit-based orientation provided, including one 12-hour and one 8-hour ICU shift No RTO (request for time off) allowed during holidays or the first three weeks of August (Sturgis Bike Rally) Navy scrubs are required for this assignment Free parking is available Very traveler-friendly environment with a supportive team ICU RNs may occasionally float to the ED; PCU RNs may float to the ICU Requirements Active RN license in SD or compact state Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel, is strongly preferred; 1.5 years with significant RN experience may be considered At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers not accepted Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (must be willing to obtain prior to start) Experience with Epic EMR required Must be comfortable working 48 hours per week Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, and critical thinking skills required Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred Candidates must live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624325.
