Must-Have :
Description :
To provide high-quality ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels for adult patients.
Perform technical assistance with exercise and non-exercise stress testing.
Handle other duties as required or assigned.
Perform high-quality two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels.
Identify EKG abnormalities and / or arrhythmias.
Utilize knowledge of age-specific needs of patients in performance of everyday duties and responsibilities.
Understand complementary imaging and / or Doppler techniques.
Demonstrate the use of M-Mode technique for measuring cardiac dimensions at precise times of the cardiac cycle.
Estimate the severity of valvular insufficiencies by mapping dimensions, orientation, and directions of the regurgitant jet.
Assess blood flow through the heart, including increased velocities, stenosis, regurgitations, and shunts with Doppler.
Use contrast echocardiography in cases where two-dimensional and color flow are suboptimal.
Evaluate left and right ventricular systolic and diastolic functions and document wall motion abnormalities.
Recognize congenital heart malformations, acquired pathologies, and possible outcomes of surgical procedures.
Complete studies according to updated protocols.
Recognize the needs and present additional views, calculations, and measurements when necessary.
Use a segmental approach while obtaining images of cardiac structures in four echocardiographic windows : parasternal, apical, subcostal, and suprasternal notch regions.
Operate ultrasound equipment and control settings affecting data quality.
Select the transducer best suited for optimal resolution and adequate penetration.
Obtain, review, and document pertinent patient history, physical examination, and supporting clinical data.
Correlate clinical history with the exam to be performed.
Monitor, record, charge, and communicate appropriately utilizing a computerized documentation system.
Prepare, instruct, assist patients, and produce images in a timely manner for dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms.
Assist in performing transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
Communicate results to the cardiologist and respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner.
Maintain monthly correlation studies and statistics.
Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and report equipment failure.
Participate in mobile echo / vascular service regionally.
Assist in performing functional, pharmacological cardiolite, and echocardiography stress testing.
Document procedures correctly.
Accurately assess patients' physical ability to perform tests.
Accurately interpret and clarify physician’s orders.
Provide thorough assessments of a patient in crisis situations.
Display proficiency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias.
Complete quarterly competency in stress lab, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring.
