Accounting Manager – Investment Accounting

Hartford, CT Area (Hybrid)

Position Type : Full Time / Permanent Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee investment accounting and reporting under GAAP and Statutory guidelines
  • Supervise staff and review deliverables for accuracy and timeliness
  • Analyze diversified investments (debt, equity, private placements, alternatives)
  • Partner with investment, actuarial, and tax teams to support financial reporting
  • Manage reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
  • Collaborate with external providers and leverage systems like Clearwater Analytics and PeopleSoft
  • Maintain controls, ensure compliance, and identify process improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA and / or public accounting background preferred
  • 5+ years of investment or insurance accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff
