About The Position

Must-Have :

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
• Candidates must pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher to avoid termination.
• A valid driver's license is required for submission.

Description :

Department includes a PCU with a 35-bed capacity.

Nurse-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5.

Patients include adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and those requiring continuous EEG monitoring.

RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications.

There is a charge nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse does take an assignment.

Nurse aides or patient care techs are present on the unit, with ratios of 1 : 10 or 2 : 20.

Shifts are scheduled from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.

Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements are every third holiday.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab.

The first week involves onboarding followed by 1-2 days of floor orientation.

This is a fast-paced floor.

Attributes that will help a nurse be successful on this unit include a positive attitude, a willingness to help others, good communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to problem-solve.

Requests for time off must be provided upfront, with a limit of 7 days or less per 13-week contract.

Additional requests for time off will not be approved after submission.

The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks.

The charting system used is EPIC.

A BSN is not required.

This is a trauma level 2 care setting.

The division is nursing.
