Description :

Summary : The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining assigned production machinery in a safe and efficient manner. This role ensures that products meet established quality and production standards while supporting a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator I works under close supervision and follows detailed work instructions and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibility :

  • Operate machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor machine functions, outputs, and alarms to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments, setups, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on products and document results accurately.
  • Maintain accurate production logs and complete required documentation.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning, sanitation, and changeovers.
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and peers to meet production goals.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, product deviations, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities : The position is not responsible for direct reports.

Requirements :

Education and / or Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Achieving production efficiencies.
  • Meeting quality specifications with minimal rework or scrap.
  • Minimized machine stoppages and prompt reporting of issues.
  • Adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
  • Documentation completion and accuracy in logs, reports, and quality checks.
  • Consistent punctuality and attendance.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (12 hour shifts).
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive movements such as bending, stooping, reaching, and handling materials.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for operating machinery and tools.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Work Environment : Work performed in a manufacturing / production environment with exposure to :

  • Loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Variable temperatures depending on season and machinery operation.
  • Dust, fumes, and chemicals, requiring use of PPE.
  • Work involves standing and moving across production floor for the majority of shift.
  • Must remain alert and safety-conscious in an environment with forklifts and heavy equipment.
