Sr Finance Analyst - Power Construction

Are you ready to take ownership of financial operations for projects ranging from $1 million to $4 billion? Kiewit is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst with Big 4 public accounting experience to join our team and help shape the financial success of our large-scale construction and engineering projects across North America.

As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will play a critical role in project financial management, including forecasting, cost control, compliance, and reporting. You'll collaborate closely with operations teams, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.

This position is based out of our office in Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning and analysis for large-scale construction projects, ensuring accuracy in forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to drive financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable / receivable, and procurement workflows, ensuring compliance with internal controls and labor laws.
  • Manage month-end close processes and prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Analyze cost reports, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to maintain budget integrity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate client and intercompany billing to support cash flow management.
  • Mentor and train junior finance analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to GAAP and company policies.
  • Champion compliance initiatives and collaborate with HR and legal teams to uphold EEO and labor law standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 48 years of progressive finance experience, including Big 4 public accounting or audit background.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and project accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.); experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as needed (up to 25%).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Valid driver's license required.
