Summary :
The Nurse Manager of Resident Services provides nursing management, establishes resident care standards, and supervises personal care. Other responsibilities include ensuring the general well-being of residents through the delivery of quality services consistent with applicable state laws and regulations. This is an on-call position.
It is the duty of all employees to promote and support a resident centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all residents, family members, visitors, fellow employees and customers with kindness, respect, and dignity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Commits to the Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS) mission to nurture and sustain a ministry of compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of persons within a diverse and changing society.
2. Upholds and promotes the VCS values of spirituality, compassion, quality, dignity, collaboration, advocacy and stewardship.
3. Promotes and supports a resident centered care environment that ensures the treatment of all residents, family members, visitors, fellow employees and customers with kindness, respect, and dignity.
4. Adheres to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.
5. Set resident care standards in order to provide high quality care to residents.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing department.
7. Supervise and manage all aspects of the nursing department.
8. Assess, direct and supervise residents' care needs. Coordinate with medical director and practitioners.
9. Cooperate with administration to assure efficient, cost-effective operation of the facility
10. Trains, supervises, motivates, and evaluates staff to ensure the provision of high quality services to residents in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of personal care.
11. Plans and delegates work schedule assignments. Oversees scheduling of nursing department. This includes being on call to ensure there is adequate staff in the building to provide quality care at all times.
12. Facilitates and encourages family involvement with residents.
13. Coordinates move-in and orients new residents to the facility, ensuring satisfactory integration into the facility.
14. Investigates resident and employee incidents, identifies safety hazards, and institutes corrective action in a timely manner. Shares in the responsibility for providing and maintaining an environment that is conducive to the safety and physical and emotional well- being of residents and personnel.
15. Monitors resident services plans, records information to determine quality of service to residents, and directs staff to implement needed change.
16. Participates in conferences with management team and initiates meetings with resident aides and other staff as needed.
17. Orients new staff. Develops in-service training and provides ongoing training of staff in order to provide high quality service consistent with the philosophy of personal care.
18. Promotes and facilitates interactive problem solving with staff.
19. Coordinates move-out ensuring proper labeling and packing of resident's belongings, if necessary.
20. May complete resident assessments and support plans.
21. Plans, attends, and monitors monthly staff meetings as scheduled.
22. Attends monthly resident council meetings and follows-up on issues as necessary.
23. Continue to expand knowledge through attending educational seminars.
24. Maintains standards of care through quality assurance monitoring.
25. Provide direct supervision of hourly employees and their adherence to all VCS policies and procedures and department standards and guidelines.
26. Coach and discipline employees as appropriate and in partnership with People Operations and Engagement Specialist while enforcing all policies and procedures.
27. Complete all necessary entries and approvals relating to biweekly payroll without delaying payroll process.
28. Complete all necessary entries and approvals relating to accounts payable being sure that all invoices are paid in a timely manner and that the department in within it's budget.
29. Contribute to the relevant and timely performance feedback to employees through the performance review process.
30. Conduct department orientation, training and coaching of all new employees.
31. Collaborates with People Operations in areas including recruitment, orientation, training, staff development, performance evaluation, disciplinary action and policies and procedures.
32. Performs all other duties assigned.
Education / Experience :
1. Current licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in good standing required.
2. Current CPR certification required.
3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
4. Candidate must have professional nursing experience in a long term care environment, including 2 years in a supervisory or administrative capacity preferred.
Work Environment :
Employees of a long term care facility work in a resident care environment that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Employees can be expected to be exposed to unpleasant odors and may encounter physically or verbally aggressive residents.
Working conditions include normal indoor temperatures. There may also be times when employees perform duties outdoors. Depending on the season, outdoor temperatures will vary.
Employees may come into contact with residents who have infectious diseases or to resident bodily fluids or blood. In addition, employees may come into contact with hazardous materials and facility equipment.
