This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the Director of Engagement and is located at the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Career Services Coordinator will provide support to students and the general public in various aspects of career development, including selecting a career pathway, conducting job searches, completing employment applications, refining resumes, and honing interviewing skills. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee responsibilities related to the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Grant, and federally funded Carl Perkins Grant as the acting Perkins Administrator. This includes maintaining governmental and institutional compliance, managing grant budgets, coordinating grant-funded activities, detailed reporting, writing of all application that apply, providing student support, coordinate internships by enrolling students in JWCC's internship course, and oversee the establishment of internship agreements among the company, student, and faculty. This position will oversee career exploration and services that support the on-boarding and off-boarding process for students preparing to enter the workforce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist students with identifying career choices as identified under the Guided Pathways model.
- Facilitate the use of the software tool PathwayU to support career exploration for students.
- Administer resume, cover letter, and mock interview assistance for students and the general public.
- Facilitate the JWCC Internship program and job shadowing opportunities.
- Work with local business and industry to provide in class presentations.
- Administer WorkKeys testing for Paraprofessional certification.
- JWCC point of contact for the Adams County Career Signing Day.
- Assist with organizing Makerfest and be the point of contact for schools.
- Represent JWCC at community and secondary career fairs.
- Plans and implements job fairs and on-campus recruiting events.
- Keep the Career Services Monitors up to date with career information.
- Organize and facilitate the Career Services Advisory committee meetings.
- Oversee and manage the Perkins and IBHE grant applications, reporting, compliance, and budgeting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree in business, finance, education, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.Experience :
Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.Knowledge of local employment trends preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.Skills and Competencies :
Excellent written / verbal communication and customer service skills.Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including compliance, grants, and budgets.Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaborate with others.Ability to learn and adapt to new sectors for program expansion and student support.Work Schedule :
Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (8 : 00am – 5 : 00pm) and Friday (8 : 00am – 12 : 00pm).Occasional evenings and weekends may be required as needed.SALARY :
This is an exempt position with an approximate annual salary of $40,000.00 - $42,000.00.BENEFITS
