Overview

Project Engineer, Mechanical — Location : Plymouth, MI; Salary : $100k-125k (based on experience); Schedule : Onsite | Full-time, 40 hours / week (start no later than 9 AM, end no earlier than 3 PM).

Our client, a well-established firm specializing in building mechanical systems, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead and develop project teams across HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems for various market sectors including retail, commercial, and healthcare. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone passionate about technical excellence, team mentorship, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage engineering teams on multiple projects from concept to completion
• Oversee system design for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, ensuring code compliance and client satisfaction
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, utility providers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver efficient and integrated solutions
• Review and approve project designs, system layouts, energy efficiency plans, and cost evaluations
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resource planning, and invoicing
• Conduct site visits and lead the QA / QC process, risk management, and compliance efforts
• Drive team development through recruitment, training, and ongoing mentorship
• Represent the department in internal meetings, client discussions, and professional networks
