Position Description

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

Major / Essential Functions

  • Lead College of Education assessment and accreditation efforts. Develop Program Assessment Plans in compliance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • Leads College of Education assessment and accreditation efforts for teacher education (i.e. AAQEP) and assist in accreditation efforts for advanced certification (e.g., CACREP, UCEA).
  • Oversee, guide, support Student Learning and Licensure implementation and all process and procedures associated with the assessment management platform.
  • Support the Tech Teach undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program. Create reports, participate in data-day, collaborate and / or support research activities.
  • Participate in professional development, conduct research that will lead to professional presentations and publications.
  • Participate in university committees (i.e., Institutional Effectiveness committee, others) and associated activities and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Abilities to conduct independent research using a variety of research models, Proficiency in the use of Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, strong analytical skills, strong writing ability. Organized and able to meet deadlines. Experience in program evaluation, ability to visually represent data. Conceptual visioning of the college's assessment process and procedures using appropriate software. Ability to communicate effectively and interface with administration and faculty.
  • Supervise one analyst and one research assistant. Moderate level of supervision 25% of the time.
  • Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or earned doctorate in education-related research preferred. Direct experience with educator preparation program acccreditation (e.g., AAQEP, CAEP) and regional accreditation (SACSCOC). Knowledge of national and state standards for educator preparation and higher education accreditation. Strong skills in data analysis, report writing, and project management.
  • Ability to conduct independent research. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills and communication skills.
