Job Description On-Call IT Field Technician – PC, Mac, Printer & Scanner Support
Location : Multiple U.S. Cities (Local, Onsite Support)
- Job Type : Independent Contractor (1099)
- Pay : $40–$45 / hour (on-site) + mileage reimbursement over 20 miles one way
- Schedule : Flexible – You accept jobs based on your availability
Important Note : This is an on-call, 1099 independent contractor role with no guaranteed hours. You'll join our technician network and receive job opportunities based on your location and stated availability. You decide which jobs you want to accept.

Role Summary
We're hiring field IT technicians who can confidently support a wide range of tech needs for residential and small business customers. This includes troubleshooting PCs and Macs, resolving network issues, and repairing or configuring printers / scanners — including issues like Canon MF printer network setup or G-series ink absorber error codes (e.g., 1700).
You'll be dispatched to customer sites, work independently, and complete service calls efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair hardware / software issues on Windows and macOS systemsResolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problemsSet up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connectionsReplace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery mediaInstall remote tools or shortcuts as requestedCommunicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service supportDocument service visits and escalate complex issues as neededRequirements
2+ years of field IT support experience , including computer and printer workFamiliarity with Canon HP , and other common printer brandsKnowledge of error code troubleshooting (e.g., Canon code 1700, boot issues, driver conflicts)Experience with both Windows (10 / 11) and macOS troubleshootingMust have personal tools (bootable USB, screwdriver set, etc.)Reliable vehicle and valid driver's licenseSmartphone with camera and data for documentation and communicationAbility to work independently and maintain a professional demeanorBenefits
