The Process Technicians are responsible for performing mold setup / pull, start-ups / shutdowns, and providing technical support to the production department. They also must be a strong leader and team player, and able to provide support and training to the rest of the setup and material-technical team. The Process Technicians must be able to manage, maintain and improve the molding efficiencies and develop robust injection molding processes. Must be capable of successfully developing injection molding processes following scientific injection molding principles. Support Quality Department and perform a teamwork environment.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities :
- Perform injection mold setups, start-ups / shutdowns and pull while following proper procedures
- Perform injection mold evaluation with process engineers’ samples per instructions
- Follow Scientific Injection Molding to develop processes (Decoupled Molding)
- Responsible for auditing and properly documenting the injection molding processes
- Able to troubleshoot / problem solve injection molding processes and supporting equipment (find root causes)
- Responsible for being the main contact for the Production Leads and Production Manager as well to Process Engineers.
- Communicate effectively with other shifts on the status of all molds / machines and be able to train and explain in how to solve any problem relate with molding. (use communication log)
- Responsible for ensuring production part quality. At start and end of every shift inspect one shot at each machine to ensure the product quality meets customer requirements
- Responsible for reducing molding scrap, improve cycle time, reduce mold set up and pull out times.
- Responsible for maintaining efficient molding process cycle times
- Work closely with Maintenance Department to repair molding equipment and improve machine reliability (MCAR’s)
- Work closely with Tooling Department to repair and improve mold quality (TCAR’s)
- Work closely with Quality Department to ensure production product meets customer quality requirements
- Provide leadership and training to Set-up Technicians, Material Handlers
- Follow company procedures and safety rules. Report any unsafe condition or practice
- Able and willing to perform all of the duties of the Mold Set-up Technicians & Process Technicians as needed
- Responsible for following and ensuring proper use of the injection molding set-up sheet management system
- Follow and support all Quality and Production documentation and procedures by providing the proper signatures and sign-offs where required
- Use the company database to update, retrieve and review information correctly
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
- Provide Technical support on the automation and secondary operation processes
- Provide updates to the Senior Process Engineer on the status of projects, samples and validations
- Provide updates to the Production Lead and Production Manager on daily production runs.
- Communicate effectively to all personnel in all departments, create a teamwork environment.
