PCU Nursing Job Details Assignment Length : 13 weeks Location : Roanoke, Virginia 24014 Healthcare Setting : Surgical Progressive Care Unit (Step Down to General Surgical ICU) Nursing Shift : 3x12-hour day shifts (06 : 45 - 19 : 15) Hours per Week : 36 Patient Ratio : 1 : 5 (goal 1 : 4) Start Date : November 3, 2025 End Date : February 2, 2026 Support : LPN and CNA support, interdisciplinary healthcare team Estimated Weekly Salary : $1,800 - $1,840 Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Virginia or compact state Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or Stepdown nursing experience BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification preferred Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system Clinical skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response / code teams, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drips (no titration), oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical / religious exemptions considered) Willingness to float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as needed Travel nurses must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles for one assignment) PCU Nurse Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a surgical PCU setting Monitor and manage patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including telemetry, chest tubes, trach care, and IV drips Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy Float as needed to other PCU or Med-Surg units within the hospital Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR Participate in rapid response and code situations Support patient safety and infection control protocols Work at least one holiday during the assignment (two for winter holidays) Discover rewarding travel nursing jobs in Virginia and experience the beauty of Roanoke while making a difference in patient care.
