Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Nurse Manager to oversee the 10th Floor Medical / Surgical and Infusion Unit . This leadership position is ideal for a dynamic RN with strong management experience in hematology, oncology, and medical-surgical nursing . The Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading a team of nurses and patient care technicians, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care within a busy acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour leadership and management of the Med / Surg & Infusion Unit.
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure safe and efficient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Assess patient care requirements and make regular rounds in all assigned units.
  • Support and guide staff in problem-solving and clinical decision-making.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans based on patient acuity, census, and skill mix.

    • Unit Overview

  • Unit : 10th Floor – Med / Surg & Infusion (Hematology / Oncology Focus)
  • FTE Oversight : 40 RNs and 14.5 PCTs (current vacancies : 4 RNs, 1 PCT)
  • Unit Capacity : 43 medical-surgical beds and 4 hemodialysis beds
  • Patient Population : Oncology, chemotherapy, and general medical-surgical patients
  • Charge Nurses : Serve as Assistant Nurse Managers
  • Charting System : Allscripts

    • Required Qualifications

  • Active New York RN License (required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree (MSN) preferred
  • Certifications : BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS preferred
  • Experience : Minimum of 3 years recent acute care RN experience and leadership experience
  • Strong background in hematology / oncology or infusion care preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams effectively in high-acuity environments
