SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The QC Lead Inspector is responsible for following the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures to ensure customer expectations are met. This includes both Quality Control and some Quality Assurance activities in support of all departments for cross-functional success. This position also includes the supervision of the Quality Control Inspectors at the site as per the Organizational Chart.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Follow all company safety and quality requirementsSupervise and provide leadership for the Quality Control (QC) Inspectors.Oversee the day-to-day quality activities in order to maintain and communicate facility and corporate metrics and objectivesFollow all necessary Document System procedures and processes.Complete incoming, in-process, and final inspectionsDocument and segregate non-conforming material and workmanshipRecord Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Preventive Actions into the Quality DatabaseApply problem solving techniques and / or root cause analysisReview Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Preventive Actions from the Quality Database with Facility Management to identify and implement continuous improvementVerify Material Test Reports (MTRs) and similar documents for required information upon receipt of materialsMaintain calibration and verification of tools and measuring equipmentMaintain AWS CSI and applicable certificationEnsure Welding Specification Procedures (WPS) are current and in place for projectsSupervise and / or conduct Welder Qualification Test Reports (WQTR) to AWS and / or ASMEMaintain the Welder Continuity LogOrganize and record quality related training activitiesRepresent the company, as needed, on field issues requiring investigation and decisions associated with product quality and conformance.Able to work flexible schedules and overtime or weekends when neededPrompt and dependable attendance.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Must have general computer experience along with experience using spreadsheet and word processing programsWelding inspectionApplicable Code knowledge such as : AWS, ASMEBlueprint / drawing readingLeadership to motivate co-workers to quality workmanshipStrong ability to interact in cross-function abilityAbility to accept responsibility and account for his / her actions and areas of responsibilityAbility to perform work accurately and thoroughlyAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to allocate authority and / or task responsibility to appropriate people.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
5 years welding experience, or equivalent training in fabrication of steel products preferred5 years QC Inspector experience (or equivalent) preferredAWS Certified Weld Inspector preferredExperience
