Position Overview
A locum opportunity for a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide weekend call coverage at a 114-bed community hospital in northeastern North Carolina. The surgeon will cover inpatient call for emergency and urgent surgical cases, including appendectomies, cholecystectomies, strangulated hernias, and I&Ds.
This is pager call only; the surgeon is not required to remain on-site. New providers must arrive either the day before or the morning of their first shift for onboarding.
Pay Ranking : This assignment is positioned in the top 15-20% of current Southeastern U.S. general surgery locum call rates . Assignment Highlights
- Pager call coverage for nights and weekends - not required to be on site
- Inpatient only; no outpatient clinic responsibilities
- No trauma, no backup in the ED, no code response
- Average 7-8 patients per day, 1-2 admissions per day / night
- Approximately 50 surgical cases per month for the service
- Epic EMR (HealthSpan)
- Travel prepaid; malpractice provided by HPA Healthcare
- HPA Healthcare is Joint Commission-certified
- Credentialing support provided end-to-end
Job Responsibilities
