Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Show Low, Arizona 85901

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Cardiac Stepdown / Med Surg Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 8 / 2025 – End : 3 / 9 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36 hours guaranteed

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend (nights : Friday & Saturday)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1860–$2000 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Arizona or compact state; willing to wait for license submission)

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Telemetry and Medical Surgical (Med Surg) acute care (2 years preferred)

Required Certifications : ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS

Proficiency with cardiac medications (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, bumex, Lasix, integrillin, octreotide, protonix)

Ability to float to all Med Surg units as needed

Experience with electronic charting systems (Allscripts - Sunrise preferred)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in an 18-bed Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry unit, including 6 PCU-capable beds

Monitor and interpret telemetry readings; document interpretations every 4 hours or as needed

Administer cardiac and acute care medications according to protocol

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and support staff

Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 (Med Surg) and 1 : 3 (PCU / Stepdown)

Participate in orientation with a preceptor and ongoing professional development opportunities

Care for patients with diagnoses such as AMI, Stroke / TIA, Pneumonia, Renal (dialysis), Afib RVR, SIRS, and Diabetes Mellitus

Maintain infection control standards, especially when caring for COVID-19 patients in a mixed unit
