Position Overview :
We are seeking a Wireless Network Technician to manage, maintain, and optimize the wireless infrastructure across a large multi-floor office building. The technician will be responsible for ensuring strong, stable, and secure Wi-Fi connectivity to support mission-critical applications such as Microsoft Teams, VoIP, and high-bandwidth data services.
This role involves daily monitoring of wireless performance, troubleshooting end-user connectivity issues, performing system upgrades, and working closely with the IT Network Engineering team to maintain optimal wireless coverage and reliability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Monitor and maintain wireless network performance across all building floors and access points.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (9800 series) and Cisco APs .
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues affecting end-users, including Microsoft Teams and VoIP call quality.
- Conduct regular RF surveys and spectrum analysis to identify interference and optimize coverage.
- Manage SSIDs, VLANs, and security policies for internal and guest Wi-Fi networks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, device inventory, and change logs.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement firmware upgrades, patches, and capacity improvements.
- Assist with new access point installations, cabling, and switch configurations as needed.
- Respond to service tickets promptly and provide technical support to users.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols, including WPA2 / WPA3, 802.1X authentication, and NAC policies.
Required Qualifications :
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience).2+ years of experience supporting enterprise wireless environments.Hands-on experience with Cisco WLCs (9800 series) and Cisco DNA Center preferred.Knowledge of RF fundamentals, channel planning, and spectrum management .Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Center, Ekahau, NetSpot, or Cisco Prime).Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and floorplans.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Preferred Certifications :
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CCNP Enterprise WirelessCWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator)CompTIA Network+ or Security+Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (for access point installation or cable management).Comfortable walking long distances.
