Job Title : Registered Nurse

Job Specialty : Perioperative Care in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Shift : 10-hour Day Shifts

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Required to submit

Certifications : ACLS, PALS, BLS

Must-Have : Experience working with Phase 1, strong general surgical recovery experience, and willingness to work in various perioperative care areas such as pre-op, PACU (Phase 1 and Phase 2), pre-Endo, and post-Endo.

Job Description :

• Unit has 14 beds, including 3 PACU bays and 11 interchangeable bays for pre-op, same-day discharge, and endoscopy.
• Assigned areas include pre-op, PACU Phases 1 and 2, pre-Endo, and post-Endo.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow ASPAN guidelines.
• Common cases involve orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries, gynecological procedures, C-sections, endoscopy, and occasional plastics and neuro / spinal cases. Pediatric cases include ortho trauma and some dental procedures.
• Experience in Phase 1, surgical recovery, and charge nurse assistance is important.
• EMR system used is Epic.
• Charge nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) are scheduled from Monday to Friday to assist with lunch coverage and efficiency.
• Two certified nursing assistants (CNAs) help with coverage, room turnovers, and other duties.
• RNs are expected to clean and turnover rooms and assist with daily chores.
• Rapid response and transfer procedures exist for patients requiring higher care levels.
• RNs must read cardiac strips.
• No self-scheduling; shifts start between 6-8 AM, with most shifts being 8 or 10 hours.
• Call requirements include weeknight and weekend rotations, with 24-hour call on weekends.
• Holiday calls may be assigned during the contract period.
• Call response time is 30 minutes, requiring proximity to the facility when on-call.
• Orientation involves pairing with a preceptor, with 3-5 shifts for unit-specific orientation.
• Scrubs are provided as part of the dress code.
