job_description.job_card.job_descriptionEducation : BS in Electrical / Computer Engineering or equivalent is required. MS is preferred. Technical Skills : 10+ years of professional experience developing embedded software in C / C++. Experience in architecture, design, hardware / software integration, and development of embedded software. Knowledge of modern control theory and applications. Experience collaborating in multi-site software development teams and projects. Ability to develop unit tested software components. Experience in technical leadership, project planning, and project tracking. Experience with RTOS software development, Linux application development, and embedded security concepts (firmware signing, secure boot, DM-Verity). Familiarity with wireless technologies (WiFi, Zigbee, LoRa, BLE, BLE Mesh) and standard embedded design tools (JTAG, protocol analyzers, emulators). Familiarity with configuration management tools and static / dynamic analysis tools. Experience with Waterfall and Iterative software development processes. Experience in the design of analog and digital circuits and control boards. Familiarity with HVAC and refrigeration control systems. Soft / Team Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work with technical and non-technical staff; ability to collaborate across hardware, testing, technical support, and manufacturing teams; self-driven and results-oriented; ability to work with third parties and offshore teams as needed. Compensation : Salaried exempt role. Starting salary range for this role and market is $130,000 – $150,000 annually. Factors include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications. Eligible for BroadBase Incentive (BBI) with target payout of 2%. Overtime not available for this role. Location and Schedule : Richardson, TX. In the office Monday through Friday. Benefits : Tuition reimbursement; medical, dental, and vision insurance; prescription drug coverage; 401(k); short-term disability; 8 weeks paid birthing leave; 2 weeks paid bonding leave; life and long-term disability insurance. Paid Time Off : Up to 12 days paid time off, 2 paid well-being days, 1 paid volunteer day, 9–11 paid company holidays depending on the year, and 3 floating holidays per year, subject to eligibility requirements. In this role, you will have an opportunity to lead and collaborate with other engineers to design, plan, develop, and maintain embedded software components.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the successful implementation and delivery of embedded software products and components throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Responsible for project deliverables on time and with high quality.
- Assure proper technical requirement definition with internal and external customers, marketing, manufacturing, and other support groups.
- Actively participate in the definition and implementation of new processes and improvements.
- Identify and create new technologies and ideas to increase the organization's intellectual property and to better address customer needs.
- Participate in technical feasibility analysis and prototyping activities.
