About The Role

The role of the Lead Motion Designer is an incredible opportunity to work with Directive’s award-winning Creative team. You will be responsible for producing content for various client projects and will work in our Design department. Our ideal candidate is skilled at creating motion graphics in After Effects, building assets within brand guidelines, and producing engaging animations that connect with target audiences and objectives. This person can engage with clients with strategic ideas and consultative feedback. You are socially intuitive, collaborative, receptive to feedback, deadline-driven, organized, and detail-obsessed.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and creating storyboards, mood boards, and design frames
  • Research and analyze design techniques and solutions to create motion graphics
  • Create engaging animations that connect with the target audience and achieve objectives
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of short-form video creation for internal and external projects
  • Produce content and assets for use across media including social, mobile, web, and emerging platforms
  • Take initiative on projects to deliver innovative solutions
  • Adhere to brand guidelines while pushing creative boundaries
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand brand, audience, and message to create a strategic, high-performing video product
  • Create original designs that communicate intended messages visually for current and prospective clients
  • Coordinate production requirements (potential VO and music) and provide final approvals

What You Offer

  • A robust portfolio of completed motion graphic projects
  • Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Suite and motion graphics tools (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Cinema 4D, Blender, Animate, etc.)
  • Interest in new technologies and platforms to create motion content, including generative AI
  • Strong visual and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Analytical ability to integrate designs into multi-channel strategy
  • Ability to lead a project and collaborate within a team
  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Graphic Design, or related field is preferred (not mandatory)
  • Bonus : strong character animation, Java for After Effects, and 3D motion graphics abilities

    As a remote-first company, you can work from anywhere in the US, with optional offices in Irvine, CA.
