American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications and a WV or compact state RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 4-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care settingPatient population includes COVID pneumonia, post-op ortho and urology patients, COPD, CHF, older adults, and typical MedSurg ICU casesRN to patient ratio is typically 1 : 4, with one Patient Care Tech (PCT) per shiftAll standard ICU drips managed, including use of 6 ventilators for intubated and vasopressor-dependent patients12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; shifts run 1845-0715Charge RN for MedSurg is included in staffing and may take patient assignmentsEMR system is EpicCare Inpatient; experience with Epic preferredUnit equipped with Phillips hard-wired cardiac monitors and a central monitoring stationNo IV team; pharmacy available in-house for 8 hours daylight, with additional remote supportFloating to MedSurg may occasionally occur if comfortable, but no floating outside of ICU otherwiseCollaborate closely with hospitalist and intensivist physicians who are in house seven days a week, with nurse practitioner coverage at nightPharmacy, RT, and PCT support provided, contributing to a multidisciplinary team approachExpect participation in the permanent staff holiday rotationOrientation provided with 1-2 shifts alongside a preceptorScrub attire of any color is permittedFirst-time travelers will be considered based on experience and qualifications\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent ICU nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications requiredCompletion of Epic system charting orientation preferredMust provide unexpired driver’s license for considerationApplicants must live more than 50 miles from facility; no local travelers acceptedFormer permanent staff from Potomac Valley, Princeton Community, or Garrett Regional are not eligible to return as travelersThose who previously worked within the health system must have a 2-year break before reapplyingTravelers may not work within the health system for more than one year consecutively; then a two-year break is requiredEKG competency testing may be required as part of onboarding\n Benefits\n
