About the Role

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing first assist coverage in the OR across various surgical subspecialties. You’ll manage perioperative and general surgery patients while performing essential floor procedures. Collaborating with our skilled surgical teams, you’ll be involved in rounding, consults, admissions, and night coverage for emergent cases.

This position offers exciting growth opportunities, especially with exposure to DaVinci Robotic Surgery , supported by extensive onboarding and training.

Your Responsibilities

• OR First Assisting : Provide first assist in the OR for specialties including general, plastic, spine, bariatric, and OB / GYN cases.
• Rounding : Participate in daily rounds on general surgery patients as part of a collaborative team with attendings, residents, and students.
• Consults & Admissions : Cover admissions and consults for general surgeons.
• Night Coverage : Be on call from home, assisting with emergent OR cases, admissions, and consults.
• Floor Procedures : Perform essential floor procedures such as NG tube insertion / removal, wound vac changes, and bedside I&D.
• Cross-Coverage : Engage in limited cross-coverage between NDH PA services and Vassar Brothers Medical Center PA services.

Working Conditions

This position involves four 10-hour shifts per week, including one weekend shift per month. You will benefit from an extensive onboarding and training period in a supportive environment that fosters collaboration and learning.
