Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with strong experience in the construction industry to join our client in Concord. This is a temp-to-hire position, offering an opportunity to transition into a permanent role based on performance and business needs. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction accounting principles, job cost reporting, and progress billing.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.

Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.

Maintain and reconcile job cost records, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, and contract billings.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple construction projects.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and project-specific accounting requirements.

Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate financial tracking.

Assist with year-end audits and coordinate with external auditors.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of job costing, retainage, and progress billing.

Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint Vista, QuickBooks Contractor, or similar).

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
