Conduct broad technical SEO improvements such as resolving crawl errors, fixing broken links, addressing duplicate content, and ensuring mobile usability. Implement structured data and optimize URL structures in collaboration with our development team. Ensure all pages align with SEO best practices for site health and visibility. Use tools like Google Search Console and other SEO platforms to monitor site health and performance. Track, report, and act on key SEO metrics; support the Head of SEO with ongoing performance analysis. Native-level German fluency (required); French proficiency is a plus. 2+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with a focus on on-page and technical optimization. Strong attention to detail and the ability to make clean, effective edits to existing content. Comfortable working with content management systems and collaborating with remote teams. Familiarity with major SEO tools (Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Brightedge, SEMrush, etc.). The hourly rate for this role is $60-80 / hr Placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure / certifications, training and skill level.
Babbel is hiring an SEO Strategist contractor to join our team from October through the end of March. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our multilingual content strategy and optimization efforts. This includes technical SEO work across several European markets. Fluency in German is a requirement for this role. Additional fluency in French is a plus.
About the Role : We are seeking a hands-on SEO Strategist to drive on-page and technical SEO for our German domain, with additional support for our French site. In this mid-level role, you'll directly impact our core European markets by optimizing existing content, implementing SEO best practices, and ensuring strong organic performance in Google and emerging AI-driven search.
You'll join a collaborative, international team based in New York, with the flexibility to work remotely most of the time, but with the expectation of coming into our New York office for occasional in-person meetings and team collaboration. This is an opportunity to help shape our SEO strategy, see measurable results, and make a real difference in our fast-growing company.
