Position Summary :
The Fitness and Aquatics Director is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the Personal Training, Aquatic, Group Exercise, and Medical Integration departments. This role ensures that all departments are delivering an exceptional member experience while providing the highest level of customer service to members, guests, and prospects of the facility. The Fitness & Aquatic Director will oversee all programming, training, and lifeguards, to deliver services that are profitable and also meet member and community needs.
Primary Duties :
Create, maintain and manage a group fitness schedule (land and water) that meets member needsContinually evaluate offerings based on cost, attendance, member feedback and other key indicators to ensure successful programmingMaintain Personal Training, Small Group Training, Wellness Coaches, and Lifeguard schedulesHire, onboard and train fitness professionals : Personal Trainers, Group Fitness Instructors, Wellness Coaches, Swim Instructors and LifeguardsCreate member events each month to increase member engagement and retentionCreate and maintain a learn to swim program including both group and private lessons for children. Private lessons for adultsProvide leadership and oversight for all aspects of fitness in the Wellness CenterWork with the Wellness Center Director to create, promote, and generate referrals to medically integrated programs.Make recommendations for purchasing of new equipment, replacement or repair of equipment, as neededStay current on industry trends and make suggestions for improvements to programming or equipmentWork closely with the Wellness Center Director to keep the fitness and aquatics departments on budget, as well as assist in creating budgets each fiscal yearEnsure all staff are trained on emergency action plans and deliver quarterly drills to maintain safety standardsFacilitate meaningful partnerships with cross functional departmentsParticipate in off-site events to promote the Wellness Center to the surrounding communityRepresent Humboldt Park Health in a positive and professional mannerPosition Requirements :
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related, exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, recreation, or similar fieldMinimum two years of supervisory experience, preferably in a fitness settingMinimum of two years of aquatics experience, preferably in a supervisory capacityExhibit sophisticated written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrate exceptional listening and customer service skills; be social, outgoing, and friendlyBe an onsite leader who “leads by example” in professionalism, dress, demeanor, dedication, attention to member service, and employee careMaintain composure and act appropriately in moments when multiple unexpected challenges arise concurrentlyPossess a passion for fitness, health, athletics, and wellness. Enthusiastic, professional, and genuine demeanorAbility to work some weekends and holidaysCPR and First Aid certification requiredIndustry recognized certification from ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalentCertified Pool / Spa Operator (CPO) certification is required.
