PRIMARY PURPOSE :
- Under general supervision, performs inspections and maintenance of fire alarm and suppression systems for compliance with district policies / procedures and local, state, and federal regulations and standards to ensure the environmental health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Provides guidance and consultation to contractors, and other technical personnel regarding fire alarm and suppression systems, fire extinguishers, fire safety inspections, and other related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institutionValid Texas driver's license and satisfactory driving recordTexas State Fire Alarm Technicians license requiredSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and protocolsExperience in testing, maintenance and service of fire alarm systemsFactory training and / or NICET certification, preferredFive years in fire alarm system experience or installationESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintain the automatic fire alarm and sprinkler systemsOperate, test, and / or repair fire alarm and suppression systemsDetect problems and report information to appropriate personnelPerform safety inspections on fire alarm and suppression systems, and ensuring compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and other related safety standardsRelate technical data and NFPA standards to contractor and oversee contractor work related to fire alarm and suppression systemsRead and interpret blue prints and shop drawings related to fire alarm and suppression systemsProvide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialtyCommunicate technical information to contractors, clients, and non-technical personnelInvestigate and analyze information to draw conclusionsStay current on the technology developments / trends in area of expertisePerform periodic reviews of fire extinguishers for proper operation and maintenance. Coordinate maintenance and repairs with assigned vendorOperate tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresAssist in ensuring that equipment is in safe operating conditionRespond to emergency calls at anytimeEQUIPMENT USED :
