SUMMARY :
The Heat Treat Helper assists in all aspects of the Heat Treat Department. The Helper has a flexible role in the Heat Treat group as they are moved into various areas of the operation as needed. This includes Drop Bottom Furnace, Age Air Furnaces, Age Salt Furnaces, Freezers, and outside heat treat delivers. As a result, the Helper attains skills and training required to be moved to a more specialized and permanent role in the Heat Treat Operations group which best fits the individuals skill set.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES :
Core responsibilities include :
Responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of the work-centerResponsible for knowing and achieving daily standard production goalResponsible for knowing and achieving scrap and rework goalPerform daily inspection of equipment at work-center and report any equipment downtime or maintenance issuesEnsure that the proper shop floor instructions and QWIs for each forging operation or process are followedPerform safe and proper material handling and stacking of completed work pieces using cranes, pallets, tubs, containers, shrink wrap, and plastic or metal bandingFollow direction of the acting superior, lead man, and / or supervisorLearn the fundamentals of forging and heat treatingMaintain clean and safe working environment; embrace a clean as you go policyReport issues to acting lead or supervisorUnderstand and work to daily schedule to achieve the standardLearn the basic skills of the helper position which include but are not limited to :Safely operate a forklift / manipulator under supervisionSafely operate applicable cranes under supervision along with the supporting equipment such as slings, scissor clamps, pac-man clamp, etc.Understanding the basic functions of the drop bottom furnace, Age Furnaces, and FreezersNavigate the necessary functions of the ERP systemNavigate and understand shopfloor instructionsLearn how to take electrical conductivity test on forgingsProperly rack forgings in the correct orientationLoad, unload and rack forgings in heat-treat furnaces, ensuring specified temperatures and times are reachedAir dry or cool parts in water or oil brine or other bathsJob traceability and how to maintain itHow to position part in HT Fixture or Racks in accordance to plan or Weber Metals best practiceAssist Operator I & II as needed.Assist with / service truck deliveries, loading and unloading trucks for outside heat treat vendorsReport uptime and downtime on all jobs worked (currently logged in ERP system)Execute 5S, FOD, Haz Waste procedures on a daily basisParticipate in daily, monthly, or quarterly audits including but not limited to 5S, FOD, Haz Waste, Safety, Fire, or ISOAs a key member of Weber Metals, additional responsibilities also include but are not limited to :
Demonstrating importance of the Weber Metals Safety Policy to the success of Weber Metals.Demonstrating importance of the Weber Metals Quality Policy to the success of Weber Metals.Demonstrating knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Environmental Policy.Demonstrating knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Business Management System.Working in a team environment to meet target dates.Maintain clean and safe working environment. Be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirementsBe able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilyEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experienceMinimum 90 days as Heat Treat Helper or equivalent at Weber Metals or similar companyExperience in the forging or metals industry is preferred
