Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in California requiring current CA RN licensure and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with 19 ED beds, 3 fast track beds, and 2 triage areasPatient population includes standard emergency cases, STEMI, and stroke, with no trauma or teaching responsibilitiesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 412-hour night shifts with every other weekend requiredFloating may occur to other Sacramento facilities, with rare mid-shift floatingBedside report conducted at shift changeCerner is used for electronic charting; experience preferredFirst to float when neededNo ventilator management; telemetry required with EKG interpretationED support includes a charge RN, nurse aides (including EMTs and paramedics), and 24 / 7 social servicesPsychiatric holds are managed up front with security supportFloor-specific orientation provided for 1–2 days with a preceptorHospitalist or intensivist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy available 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs are required; under shirts and jackets must be navy, white, or blackHoliday shifts rotate with core staffFirst-time travelers are acceptedTwo professional references are required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and another from a supervisor or peer within the last 3 yearsRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience requiredCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS are requiredMust be able to read and interpret EKG stripsSuccessful completion of the Dysrhythmia (Relias) exam required prior to acceptanceSterile technique test for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes required during orientationCandidates may not have worked in any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year as a direct employeeBenefits
