Full Job Details

Leonard's Express, Inc. in Farmington, NY is looking for a Trailer Technician. Maintenance experience with Thermo King or Carrier is a plus. The ideal employee should display readiness to diagnose equipment failures and have the skills to repair equipment in accordance with the Leonard's safety standards for all of the equipment assigned to the Farmington terminal. Additionally, the Trailer Technician plays a role in the ongoing day-to-day functions of Leonard's Express. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include :

  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical trailer malfunctions
  • Utilizes gauges, special tools and specialized equipment to diagnose mechanic failure and problems, can operate shop equipment
  • Reads schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
  • Adjusts brakes, replaces linings, drums, cams and bushings
  • Completes wheel alignment installs and balance wheels
  • Constructs, maintains or services shop equipment when necessary
  • Preforms preventative trailer maintenance inspections
  • Follows all safety protocols to include wearing protective gear and maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Provides quality repairs and achieves time per repair standards
  • Maintains compliance to parts procedures
  • Experience with wall repair, skins and door replacement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

    • Requirements :

    Based on the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, the Trailer Technician should have a number of professional skills and abilities :

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Provide positive interaction with peers, leaders and internal customers
  • Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, meet assigned deadlines, and manage the related stress
  • Have the desire to learn shop procedures and technical information, take initiative

    • Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Trailer Technician is required to have :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with 53' / 48' equipment with component training certifications or trailer tech certification
  • Working knowledge of suspension system including air bags
  • Own basic set of tools
  • Brake certification, we can provide
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Physical and manual dexterity skills

    • The Trailer Technician is primarily located work environment with moderate to loud noise levels. Physical requirements include :

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently plus lift and / or move up to 75 pounds on occasion with assistance
  • Must be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days. Provide proper notice and reason in case you are unable to work all scheduled days.

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
