Position Overview
The purpose of the Customs And Trade Director is to provide trade expertise and strategic direction to all levels of the organization both domestically and internationally. This includes maintaining compliance with global import and export controls and regulations, allowing the company to drive international business.
What You'll Do
- Direct overall global trade including supporting all Gentex divisions import / export regulations.
- Develop a highly skilled team of professionals with a strong vision for compliance.
- Conduct audits on global sites, functions, and programs.
- Develop and maintain a High-Risk Screening Program for shipment quality and compliance assurance including screening both Suppliers and Customers to government lists.
- Monitor export programs for various federal classifications and appropriate licenses as defined by the United States Department of State and / or the United States Department of Commerce.
- Collaborate with the company supply base on free trade agreements or trade schemes for the purpose of identifying opportunities to reduce duties.
- Lead communication with government offices as appropriate.
- Participate in external events with the United States Trade Representative Office, Industry Trade Advisory Committee office on ITAC information for future FTA's and trade events.
- Identify proposed regulations and provide information to stakeholders on import / export changes.
- Work with customs brokers, regulatory agents, Legal, and trade compliance consultants to resolve related issues by clarifying questions and recommending solutions.
- Taking on new challenges with product development ensuring the correct regulatory requirements are met.
- Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.At least 10 years of experience in international trade compliance and regulations with a working knowledge of global trade.Training in Customs brokerage, export compliance, ITAR, classification, valuation, Free Trade Agreements, and rules of origin.What Will Help
