Description :
The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible, accountable, and empowered to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care.
Care is provided according to the philosophy and goals of the nursing department.
The RN utilizes Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Relationship-Based Care.
The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all patients assigned to their care.
Determinations regarding the patient's progress toward goals are made using a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
This facilitates the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
Care is tailored to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient.
The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence of the organization.
Competency is demonstrated when the RN consistently applies scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in the nursing process.
The RN provides care that aligns with the interdisciplinary plan while grounded in principles of Relationship-Based Care.
Ongoing patient assessments are conducted to formulate a nursing diagnosis based on the patient's physical condition and behavior.
A care plan is formulated in collaboration with the client to ensure comfort, hygiene, safety, and disease prevention.
Essential nursing skills are performed, and care instructions are explained to the client and family.
There is an evaluation of the care plan's effectiveness through observation of the client and communication with the health team.
Modifications to the care plan are made as needed based on evaluations.
The RN demonstrates a current working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
Tasks may be delegated to care team members according to their legal scopes of practice.
The RN supervises the care given by the team effectively.
The RN acts as an advocate for the client, initiating actions to improve healthcare and ensuring informed decisions.
Culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care is provided within legal standards of practice.
The RN coordinates patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and other team members.
Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs.
Documentation of nursing care is conducted per hospital policies, utilizing both manual and automated information systems.
The RN contributes to a positive patient care experience through individual interactions with patients and families.
The RN is accountable for meeting or exceeding unit and organizational goals.
The RN investigates complaints and provides information to clinical management as needed.
The RN performs all physical duties of the job, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment is required.
