The Lead Ice Technician will be responsible for the scheduling, training, and oversight of all full-time, part-time, on-call, and student ice maintenance staff. They will educate and ensure all ice resurfacer operators have completed the necessary training and testing prior to solo drives and hold all drivers accountable for proper safe usage. They will plan and orchestrate the installation and removal of both the Olympic and Lefty ice surfaces. They will oversee all staff in maintaining high-quality ice, logos, and lines, as well as dashers and glass. They will ensure that all staff monitor air, ice floor, and ice surface temperatures and humidity levels. They will be responsible for the daily care and proper operation of all ice-making and water treatment systems per the manufacturer's recommendations. Ensure that all on-ice equipment, including three ice resurfacers, is properly maintained and that all scheduled maintenance is completed on time. Responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment in the Ice Plant, including but not limited to the compressors and brine pumps. Work with the Service Mechanic to schedule and complete all preventative maintenance and repairs in the Ice Plant. Plan, implement, and oversee all daily staff duties, communicating and advising the Sr. Ice Technician on the second shift about those duties and expectations. Responsible for all operations, staff scheduling, and oversight during ND Hockey competitions, making recommendations, and executing adjustments to ice resurfacer, ice plant, and HCAV settings. Work with the Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities, Operations, and Safety, and the ND Maintenance Zone Supervisor to oversee building maintenance, including but not limited to electric, plumbing, painting, doors, windows, and locks, and scheduling preventative maintenance or repairs through the use of the AIM system to submit work orders. Collaborate with Aquatics staff to maintain the whirlpool tubs in accordance with the specified standards and regulations.
