International Program Office - 2026 Summer Internship

General Dynamics Electric Boat provides an unparalleled learning experience for college students, offering practical exposure in the defense industry alongside expert engineers, shaping the future of submarine innovation.

This program requires a minimum commitment of 8 weeks during the Summer 2026 Season. Participation in this program requires medical screening, passing a drug test, and potential DOD Investigation.

This is not a remote opportunity. All applicants have the potential to be placed at any of the following locations : Groton CT, New London CT, North Kingstown RI, Newport RI, North Stonington CT.

Interns will join the program management teams whose responsibilities include the most important programs in the Navy, the COLUMBIA and VIRGINIA class submarine programs. Program Office Interns are provided with tasks that are both challenging and educationally stimulating.

Join the AUKUS Program Office at Electric Boat to support a historic international partnership. As an intern, you will work with senior staff to provide critical metrics and contract support for the SSN-AUKUS submarine design, long-term maintenance, and Australian workforce development and supply chain uplift. This is a chance to contribute to a high-impact, global defense project.

Our Program Representative Interns take pride in the support they provide to protect our nation in the design, engineering, build, and delivery of world-class submarines. You will be working side by side with a diverse group of the top shipbuilders in our industry working as your mentors while providing you with the opportunity to gain real-life experience in the workforce, applying the skills you have acquired in college. This is an opportunity to understand program management and may lead to a potential full-time position for those who have a passion for this type of problem solving as part of our workforce of the future.

Program Office Interns at Electric Boat will interface with engineers, designers, service departments, shipyard personnel, and our Navy customers. Using a design-build-sustain approach and working in a team environment, Program Office Interns will work with these teams to develop innovative solutions to solve design, new construction, and in-service problems on nuclear submarines. Upon acceptance into the Electric Boat internship, you will get a mentor on your first day that will work with you for the duration of your internship.   • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Office)

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
  • Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university.
  • At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2026 to September 2026.
  • Selected candidates will be responsible for establishing housing and reliable transportation for the duration of their intern assignment.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Masters of Science Degree in Engineering : Engineering Management, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Cybersecurity
  • Or Business : Business Administration (with an emphasis on international business), Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Acquisition and Contract Management, Marketing
  • Or Political and International Relations : International Relations or International Affairs, Political Science, National Security Studies, Economics
