Position Highlights

Hours : 7 : 30am-4pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays each week with 3rd shift being on Monday or Wednesday; 48hrs / 2wks

A Brief Overview

Coordinates patient care for assigned patients utilizing the nursing process.

What you will do

• Utilizes the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all nursing care provided within the Cardiology, Cardiac and Pulmonary rehab, and Cath Lab settings. Assesses the patient, records significant conditions and reactions and notifies supervisor or physician as appropriate.
• Acts as a patient / family advocate and intervenes if necessary to ensure that patient care is not compromised.
• Monitors follow-up and provides further intervention as needed.
• Administers of conscious sedation.
• Monitors and cares for patients undergoing cardiac or vascular angiogram / arteriogram.
• Assists physicians and monitors patients undergoing stress tests including dobutamine stress testing.
• Prepares patients and assists in telemedicine consults.
• Initiates, provides, or delegates patient / family teaching at a level of expertise and documents appropriately, noting the recipients’ participation and response including pre-procedure calling and education.
• Administers and interprets EKGs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of exercise principles and development of an appropriate exercise / rehab plan based on cardiac and pulmonary rehab patient evaluation and assessment. Performs ongoing evaluations of patient's compliance and response to therapy, and adjusts plan of care accordingly.
