Meter Reader (Temporary)

General Summary :

Benton REA is seeking a casual Meter Reader to assist with reading meters during busy seasons or to fill in for employees on vacation. This is a temporary variable-hour position and work hours will vary from month to month. We anticipate this position will work 20-40 hours per month, with some months working more or less depending upon the coverage needs of other meter reading staff members. Benton REA has offices in West Richland and Prosser, WA. Qualified applicants must be flexible to work out of either office.

The ideal candidate is personable, collaborates effectively with coworkers and staff, maintains a positive attitude while working independently or as part of a team, and demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and the physical stamina required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, all while following safety protocols and promoting a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications :

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
• Ability to accurately and efficiently read and record numbers on a digital device
• Valid Washington State driver's license

The final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background process, to include criminal background check, employment, education and driving history review, and drug screen.

This position has no hours guarantee and is not expected to last more than six (6) months.
