American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in an acute care Critical Access Hospital requiring an active ND or compact RN license and strong assessment and titration skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 20-bed Med / Surg unit within an acute care Critical Access HospitalPatient population includes cases such as falls, CHF, bowel obstruction, A-fib, and swingbedNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5Utilizes Meditech EMR; Mindray monitors are used for telemetry with RNs reading their own stripsRNs titrate drips such as insulin, heparin, levophed, and set-rate amiodaroneDay and night rotating 12-hour shifts, scheduled by manager, with every third weekend requiredBlock scheduling may be available depending on staffing needsHoliday rotation includedFlexibility to float to ER is expected, though not first to floatResponsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, titration of medications, and management of respiratory support devicesSupport from charge nurse available 24 / 7; CNAs and PCTs assist with vital signs, I&O documentation, and ADLsOrientation of 3-6 shifts depending on staff availabilityNo specific scrub color requiredTeam-oriented environment with an expectation to handle a broad range of dutiesFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyReturning candidates must not have worked directly for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past 12 months\n \n Requirements\n
Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg nursing experience requiredCurrent AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS requiredNIHSS certification required; TNCC required if working in the ERMust be confident in assessments, infusion pump use, medication administration, and possess strong teamwork and communication skillsExperience managing respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devicesTwo professional references required : one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last three yearsCopy of a valid driver’s license must be provided\n Benefits\n
