Facilities Maintenance Assistant

The City of Dunn Public Works Department is looking for qualified applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Assistant. This individual performs a variety of responsible and semi-skilled tasks in the construction and maintenance of City building and facilities under the supervision of Facilities Maintenance Specialist. Responsibilities include performing repairs, renovations, installations and construction and preventive maintenance of mechanical, plumbing and structural maintenance issues within the City facilities. Work subjects the employee to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, extremes in temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation including moving mechanical parts, noise, vibrations, working on ladders, dusts, fumes, oils, gases and mists. The physical duties of the job include bending, stooping, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid North Carolina driver's license, and considerable experience in semi-skilled trades work such as plumbing and carpentry work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
