American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Artesia, New Mexico.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in an acute care setting with 3 years of MS-Tele experience and BLS / ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Acute care hospital Med / Surg unit with 26 beds
  • Nurse to patient ratios of 1 : 3-5
  • Handles medical, surgical, and PCU patients; no ICU in hospital
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry using Mindray cardiac monitors
  • Will occasionally be required to titrate drips such as insulin, amiodarone, and levofed
  • Day shifts of 12 hours (7AM-7PM), with every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling is guaranteed; flexibility in scheduling is expected to assist with staffing needs
  • No call or floating required, except CNAs may float to ED for sitter shifts
  • CPSI charting system used; experience preferred but not required
  • Unit provides care for Medical, Surgical, and PCU patients with a variety of diagnoses
  • Nurse aids are present with a 1 : 8 ratio, assisting with ADLs, vitals, I / Os, and transfers
  • Travelers participate in a holiday rotation as assigned
  • Orientation of 1-2 days with a preceptor based on individual needs
  • Completion of approximately 20 hours of online modules required prior to start
  • Navy blue scrubs required for this unit
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

    • Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 3 years recent MS-Tele nursing experience required
  • Preferred experience in PCU or Stepdown setting
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and manage titratable drips
  • Ability to operate respiratory equipment and manage bipap / cpap as needed
