Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Test Operations Engineer, supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. The Test Operations Engineer will work as part of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining ground test facilities in support of the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal or external candidates; the selected candidate must be available to work any shift to support test needs as mission requires.

Salary Range : $77,000 - $104,500 / year

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Work as Test Operations Engineer for operation of test cell systems
  • Develop test operational requirements (test period directives, detailed run programs, etc.) ensuring test article mounts are structurally sound to withstand expected test
  • Direct test system checkouts and testing as required
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline engineers, physicists, and skilled craft technicians in the test control room to operate facility systems
  • Respond quickly to alarms / alerts in fast-paced, high-pressure situations, ensuring safety of the test crew, the facility, and the test article
  • Troubleshoot and direct corrective maintenance activities or coordinate with the appropriate systems engineer for support
  • Coordinate work with area superintendents, craft supervisors, and / or work planners; provide technical leadership to craft workforce in executing work orders and procedures (WIs), Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO), critical lifts, etc.
  • Ensure proper test / operations reporting (Ops Center, test resumes, Operating Test Logs, Test Unit Status Logs, etc.)
  • Perform facility characterization / calibrations and monitor facility performance
  • Operate as system engineers for equipment within or supporting the test cell facility; participate in small design / analysis tasks as needed
  • Work extra hours or support off-shift testing as required
  • Communicate clearly using various methods
  • Wear company-issued PPE as directed
  • Perform other related duties as required

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Note : posting is specifically for mechanical or aerospace engineers with less than 5 years' post-degree engineering experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and AEDC local area network access
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to Air Force security requirements
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical application of mechanical engineering knowledge and CAE / CAD tools
  • Multidisciplinary knowledge or experience (electrical, mechatronics, control systems) is a plus
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to mission objectives
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience building relationships across engineering and craft teams
  • Strong organizational skills and proactive, results-driven mindset
  • Demonstrates technical curiosity and openness to innovation
  • Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
